as far as afghanistan is concerned, it seems quite iffy whether we have made true progress. the taliban has once again regained momentum and is giving nato heaps of trouble in the south.
we have focused so much attention on iraq that we forgot the whole reason we started bombing shit in the middle east in the first place. maybe if afghanistan had an oil stash... was part of opec... then we might not have needed to divert our efforts to the west.
i guess there is little we can do. many cultures hate america. americans hate people who hate them. i don't think either side is going to benefit from further attempting to annihilate one another.
